The leaves are beginning to change color, the air is getting a bit crisper, and signs of fall are all around. You know what this means: Halloween is just around the corner! Here are some costume ideas for you and your significant other that are sure to fit whatever type of party you have on your calendar.
If you have a professional function that you will be attending with co-workers and your work day superiors or a family friendly Halloween event, you might want to go for something a bit more conservative. There’s always the coordinating pirate option. You could go for the western theme and dress as a cowboy and cowgirl, or more specifically, dress as Jesse and Woody from Toy Story. If you are up for a little extra color in your world, get crazy with the blue spray paint and go as a smurf and Smurfette. If you want to roll back the clock a bit, dig up a black leather jacket and a poodle skirt and cruise into your party in 1950’s fashion. There is a long list of TV shows that you could use for your inspiration. Marge and Homer Simpson would be sure to liven up any costume party. Fred and Wilma Flintstones costumes could take your party-going friends all the way back to caveman times. The fun, classy, entertaining and office appropriate costume options really are limitless.
Now, if you are attending an adults only party of good friends, your costume choices might be a bit more liberal. There is the classic plug and socket, Hugh Hefner and one of his Playboy bunnies, or Dr. Feel Good and his scantily clad nurse. You could also try an extra sexy version of lots of otherwise conservative characters. Little Red Riding Hood and the big bad wolf or policeman and woman are just a couple of the many options.
If you want to get really dressed up and look nice, consider all of the prince and princess options. Dress as Belle and bring either the Beast or the prince along. Find a very long, blonde wig and dress as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Go with the under the sea theme, and dress as Aerial and prince Eric. You could even go as Snow White and either her prince, or one of her adorable dwarf friends. There is a long list of prince and princess options if that sort of thing suits your costume style.
Regardless of what type of character you choose, the key to pulling off any costume is to really be in character. Have fun with it and play it up with each other. People will love your costume regardless of how simple or extravagant if you get into character and have a great time with it. Halloween is a great opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and have a blast being somebody that you’re not. Now that you have lots of fabulous costume ideas, it is time to get to the costume store and snag your ensemble of choice. If your creative juices are really flowing, you may want to just skip the costume shop and head straight for the craft store to start choosing fabrics and accessories to create something even better than what you can buy. In any case, have fun with it, and a happy Halloween to you!
