It’s always been on October 31, but some people out there think it’s time to move the date of the Halloween holiday.
A petition at change.org calls for the spookiest day of the year to be on the last Saturday of October so that it always falls on a weekend, rather than keeping it on the 31st. The petition website says it is created by the Halloween & Costume Association but doesn’t show actual names behind it. As of 10:15 a.m. Eastern today, the petition was seeking 1,500 names and already has 1,143.
The petition is called the Saturday Halloween Movement.
The goal of the organizers is to have it be a day of celebration rather than crammed into a couple of hours because many folks work when it falls on weekdays.
What do you think: Should Halloween stay on Oct. 31, or be moved to the last Saturday of October?
